Memories are always so fragmented.
A corridor, large bookcase behind a glass and a little book with a blue girl on its cover. Facing me. I loved it. I remember asking to look at it many times, but all I remember is that one painting. A girl on a ball. My granddad explaining why there are two ways of pronouncing Picasso’s name... Perhaps that’s why this is the first painting that comes to mind when I think of Picasso. She lives on that memory bookshelf and now on my canvas. It wasn’t planned but once the work was mostly finished she just appeared in my minds eye. A travelling circus. A happy childhood memory.
