Three Apricots And Unsuspected Dimensions is part of the Interior of the Mind series, which examines the relationship between space, time, and memory. The painting captures a fragmented, abstracted interior - a table set with apricots, jugs, glasses, and a plate, reminiscent of a festive moment. Yet, the details are slipping away, distorted and broken, like memories fading with time.
The work begins with a figurative scene. Over time, layers are added, and like time eroding memory, the details gradually vanish. The architectural base of geometric shapes and perspective serves as the structure, while a subconscious realm emerges on top, obscuring and bending the scene. The apricots, once clear, are now fragmented, reassembled through a network of lines that obscure perspective, revealing what remains once we forget.
This piece invites the viewer into a space of hazy recollection, a place between the known and unknown. The fragmented still life like memories of forgotten places, past moments, and forgotten connections, allows the imagination to fill in the gaps and experience the disintegration of memory through art.
